My friend Tom singing about our friend Ryan, who passed away this summer. I can’t believe he’s gone. Everytime I pass the little apartment on Morgan Ave, I remember listening to Ryan sing with his guitar; playing Wii bowling; midnight soccer games; learning how to make a gravity bong with a Vitamin Water bottle and a one-hitter. I miss Ryan’s spirit something fierce, and sometimes I remind myself that I can never see him again and my heart breaks all over again.
“Waking up to life sometimes seems worse”
Listen to this— I mean really, listen. I’m not sure if it’ll have the same affect on folks who don’t know Tom or Ryan, but for me, it’s a moving tribute from one friend to another. It really highlights the universal nature of lyrics, and how one artist can cover a song and inject a totally new life into it than anyone would have ever seen before.
